For founders building their own stuff

Always know where your business stands, and what to do next

Turn vague ideas into structured opportunities, assumptions into learnings, scattered information into clarity and clarity into execution.

No spam. One email when we launch. That's it.

Build a coherent picture.

Your work should accumulate into understanding, not disappear across fragmented notes, documents, and AI chats.

OwnStuff connects what you've learned, what you believe, what remains uncertain, and the decisions you've made. As your business changes, this shared picture changes with it.

See what's moving you forward.

OwnStuff gives you both a clear representation of your business and a reasoning engine for understanding it. It helps you see what matters, what you're still guessing, and where to look next.

What do customers actually need?

Which assumptions carry the most risk?

What remains uncertain?

Why might something not be working?

Turn it into action.

Move forward from what you know. Follow the strongest signal, or investigate the most important gap. Every action gives you something new to work with, and strengthens the picture.

How it works

Structure raw inputs

Capture and structure raw ideas into problems worth solving, with every pivot and decision traced back to the reasoning behind it.

Prepare your next interview

Build questions from what you've already learned. Each question connects back to the notes, signals, and interviews that raised it.

Search your signals

Find signals and see what supports your assumptions, what challenges them, and what's still unclear without falling down another rabbit hole.

Ask AI that knows your business

Ask questions using your decisions, interviews, and open questions as context. Add or leave out what you need, then keep what's useful from the conversation.

Work on your documents and messaging

Pull together positioning and outreach from what you've already captured. Trace the ideas and language back to the notes, quotes, and signals behind them.

Know what to focus on next

See what's solid, what's uncertain, and where the biggest gaps are. Know what needs attention and what to focus on next.

Why we build OwnStuff

Ever had one of these weeks?

You’re researching, taking notes, talking to people, shipping things, changing direction, making decisions. You do everything founders are supposed to do, right?

But behind the scenes you’re overwhelmed with endless research, validation and AI chats, fragmented thoughts, decision fatigue, and all the information you’re juggling while wearing all the hats. And somehow you still can’t tell if you’re actually moving forward.

We’re building OwnStuff to make everything you learn part of the same evolving picture. Whether you’re exploring an idea, talking to customers, validating assumptions, or crafting outreach, that picture helps you know where to focus. What you learn connects, changes, and compounds over time, so you can see where you stand, what you know, what you’re still guessing, what to do next, and stay in control of your business.

How is it different

Notes apps and wikis

Good for capturing and storing notes, docs, and voice memos, but that’s not enough. They drift out of your workflow entirely. Out of sight is genuinely gone, not retrievable in practice, just lost to momentum.

OwnStuff captures meaning and tracks how your knowledge evolves, so instead of trying to find something in scattered pieces of information, you get answers grounded in the full picture, not fragments.

AI chats

Powerful tools and incredibly useful for exploring ideas. However, it’s not clear what your conversation is based on. Could be last week’s discussion, an unrelated thread, a decision you already rejected, or nothing at all. It’s a black box.

OwnStuff is built on the knowledge formed about your business, including what’s known and the lineage of decisions, explorations, and actions you’ve made, with context you can see and control.

AI cofounders

Some tools promise an AI that runs your business for you. Handing off work is useful, but push it far enough and you stop understanding why your own company works the way it does. The judgment stops being yours.

We intentionally don’t want to outsource the founder’s role. While you can still delegate work, you keep full ownership. At the end of the day, you’re the one who makes the calls and defines the future of your business.

Business planning tools

Business plans and frameworks can be useful. The problem is that they tend to capture a snapshot and are often filled in once and forgotten. Your business doesn’t stay still, so your tools shouldn’t either.

OwnStuff maintains a live view of your business that can be explored from different angles and through different lenses. Frameworks can be applied on top as your business evolves.

Frequently asked questions

Who is OwnStuff for?

Early-stage and first-time founders, solopreneurs, and indie hackers. Really, it's mostly for people building on their own and doing everything themselves. There's no team to bounce ideas around with, question your assumptions, or help you work through a tough decision. And especially early on, it can be hard to know if all the things you're learning are adding up.

Do I need to have a business idea figured out already?

No. Start where you are. You might still be turning something over in your head, actively building, or already have traction. There's no step one you're supposed to have already done. You can also start over or explore a different direction without losing what you've already worked through.

You're not limited to one idea either. They can stay completely independent, or you can branch one to explore different directions or possible pivots.

What if I already use Notion, Obsidian, ChatGPT, etc.?

You can keep using them if you want. We're working on integrations and MCPs so you can bring that work into OwnStuff rather than having to start over.

Can I use OwnStuff if I'm working with a team?

Right now, OwnStuff is designed for personal use. Collaboration is on our roadmap, so you'll eventually be able to bring your team into the same business context.

How do you protect my data?

We know your business data is sensitive, and we take that seriously. It can include customer information, research, ideas, decisions, and things you're not ready to share.

When we launch, we'll clearly explain how your data is stored, who can access it, how it's handled when AI is involved, and the measures we take to protect it. We want you to know exactly what happens to your data before you put your business into OwnStuff.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Your data is yours, and you'll be able to export it.
